Gossip: Just heard that some "players" are going forward with a plan for at least 4 new floodlight (championship level) tennis courts in Chippenham!
The proposal is at least four astro floodlight tennis courts, with a maximum of £60 full membership. The idea it seems would be to bring social Tennis to all at a cost that is available to all! Also a full time coach (available at all times), Ball machine available at all time (similar to a "golf driving range") So the question I have been asked to ask to you is: Would you join this club? Yes or no? Please respond using the contact page Note: This is an external opportunity that I have no involvement with (but I think it is a great idea) Daveg Just restrung one of my Powerangle rackets with Luxilon Alu Power Rough, I will be playing tomorrow so will write a Play Test report. Ok I've played this morning with this string, more bite and spin, but I did not have the control (but that could have been me as I haven't played for two weeks!) The string doesn't feel harsh, I will carry one plying with it to see what the tension maintenance is like. Will update as I go along. Ok played last night (Doubles) this string gets better after the first hour of play, more spin, bite on the ball and the control is there (must have been me!) Also did 30 mins on the ball machine this morning and yes the string is playing well, could only do 30 mins as the temperature was edging towards 30 degrees. To all new members of Chippenham Tennis Club that have joined as part of the "Great British Tennis Weekend"
I offer you a Free 1/2 Hour Tennis Ball machine session. Well come to the wonderful game of Tennis! Cheers! daveg Some tennis coaches tend to concentrate on technique / or form, what they cannot teach is "FEEL"
Only practice without any outside (coach input) will produce the correct result "Feel" Coaches have been trained to teach technique rather than feel, just listen to a coaches voice on the tennis court, you will hear: racket back, watch the ball, split step, etc. but what you should be concentrating on is "how did that feel?" Only when you can practice without any other input than your own, will you develop feel. You may have someone on hand to help, with comments such as: try waiting until just before the bounce before you take the racket back. or really focus on the ball just before the bounce or brush up on the back of ball more. Now we are looking developing "Feel" rather than technique. These are just my thoughts, that have served me well and I share them with you. Daveg Today I had a ball machine booking at Chippenham Tennis club, I arrived early so I cleaned up the courts
removed rubbish, empty and full water bottles etc Completed my hour booking with a Chippenham member, started to clear up, when I was approached by two people asking about membership etc, after half an hour of chat I said sorry but I had to be away. Started to pack the car with the ball machine, ball hopper, extra balls and my kit bag when they came back and thanked me for spending the time to answer their questions. Nice, I hope you join the club. They may or may not join, but at least they meet someone who had the time to answer their questions. Then I thought, how many clubs have players / people there during the day to help or just answer questions? Only those clubs that are profitable and can afford to have "staff" available during the day. An opportunity missed by many clubs. So in your ideal club what would you have? or if you have found your ideal tennis club, where is it and why? Please use the comment to reply I would love to hear from you.
