I use a simple Digital Travel weight scale which I purchased from Aimtoolsltd for £3.49. I do tend to check my machine on three setting 24Ibs, 45Ibs and 62Ibs they are just setting I use. As you can see below I was using 52.8Ibs, so not bad for a cheap way of checking your machine tension, (allowing for the slight stretch of the strap) the machine looks good. Now all I have to do is check/clean the clamps on both the tennis and badminton clamps (and the tension head clamp ) and we are good for another 20 or so rackets. Note: The Wise 2086 does it's own tension test as part of it's power on test at start up! By hey I like to be sure! Ok I haven't had any blisters (or hard skin) for a while but since I have been playing more squash and tennis I have got some hard skin on my thumb which started to crack! This can be very painful and hurts when playing, searched around and found this " Golfers tape" it is brilliant! Unlike normal tape this is flexible and cushions at the same time, its sticks to itself and stays in place! I will have a stock of this for £4.99 per roll No more sore hands! Update I have just found that Nail protection tape (used in nail saloons does the same job! You can get 10 rolls for under £5 (Link) Daveg I was looking for another multifilament string so I have decided to test this string. Pro's Pro Kingut is a new multifilament synthetic string, giving arm protection and playing comfort - the characteristics usually found only in natural gut string. Constructed from highly elastic multifilament, they are compressed into a powerful string core. This string core is wrapped with a layer of braided, extremely tension retaining monofilaments and a layer of durable, flexible multi-filaments. The nano-coating increases the durability. In addition, Kingut features high elasticity, rough surface, perfect ball control, comfort and feel similar to natural gut string. Particularly suited for players with arm or wrist problems. I have just strung up one of my Powerangle rackets with this string feels very similar to the Pro's Pro Dura ace squash string (The Dura Ace has been the squash players string of the month for the past 2 months so that bodes well for this string!) Stringing with this string is very easy no kinking or snagging, stretches as a multi does and feel nice when completed. Will use this racket tonight at Tennis training! Used this racket and string combination tonight and was very pleased with the feel comfort and spin potential (Powerangle rackets are renowned for the spin) Was able to put the ball where I wanted and used the slice to good effect! Could serve "bang on the button" down the middle ,wide and topspin serves all went to the right spot. I have been using polys so I strung this at 55Ibs ( powerangle recommends 53Ibs ) as I wanted a tighter stringbed for control, the next time I restring I will lower the tension by 2Ibs as this will give me more power, I know the string gives the control and feel. |
