Well done to Edred Opie and Ben Sheppard from Chippenham Tennis Club Edred Opie has just won back to back tournaments in Sheffield and in Hampshire; and Ben Sheppard has won his u10 tournament at the Next Generation in Swindon
I am pleased to give offer both Edred and Ben two free restrings each for 2013, Please use the contact page, email or phone. Hope this helps! Daveg My Wise 2086 electronic tension head after five years has given an error 5 when doing the self test, so a quick email to Herb Wise (inventor) and redirected to Watdon to get it serviced, After ParcelForce failed to collect it the first time (called at 08:30 when I was in the shower! when the pickup was between 09:00 to 17:00!) then collected it the second time , Robin at Watdon has given it a "damn good service" replaced the broken/worn out parts and it is winging it's way back! can't wait to get it back as I do not want to use a crank tension system after using the Wise for so long!
Lucky it is a relative quiet time so I only have a few rackets to catch up with (two being my own with some very interesting strings to test!) So anyone out there with any stringing machine issues contact Watdon ! Wise 2086 tension head returned today (21st Jan)! Welcome home buddy we've got some work to catch up on! Great service from Watdon Thank you! I was asked "what is the best Squash Practice routine"?
That depends on what you are trying to achieve, the best basic practice for two players is the Boast and Drive, Player A at the front plays straight drives (down the wall within two boards of the wall) Player B at the back plays a boast from each back corner (aiming to get the front side wall nick off the boast). Both players must return to the T after each shot. Try putting something in the middle of the court that each player has to touch between their shot. (we used to use an old fire extinguisher because you could hear when a player failed to touch it! No ting!) Change over after about 4 mins. The above practice trains for fitness, racket technique (preparation) and ball placement. Once you have mastered the basic Boast / Drive practice you can change it so that Player A (at the front) can play either straight or cross court drives. (starting to get harder!) Enjoy! At this time of year a lot of players say "ouch my racket feels like a board today" or "the cold make the strings feel stiff" or something along those comments.
But when the string tension was tested at three different temperatures there wasn't any difference in the tension! So what is causing the "boardy feel" perhaps it's the fact that you didn't warm up properly . So the "boardy or stiffness" you feel is in your body not your strings. So always "warm up" before you play ! Thanks to John Gugel |
